WHO IS VIVEK SINGHA?

Vivek Singha is the pre-selected Liberal Party candidate for the NSW federal electorate of McMahon, which covers part of western and south western suburbs of Sydney;
Vivek is a first generation Australian, migrating from India 19 years ago. He lives in the electorate with his wife and four children;
Professionally, he has worked in manufacturing, consulting, tax and worked in finance roles;
One of his passion is motorcycle riding and through this he has been involved in a variety of community and charity rides;
He is also passionate about science and technology and the ways it can transform human lives through medical advancements;

WHAT DOES THE FEDERAL ELECTORATE OF MCMAHON LOOK LIKE?

The federal NSW seat of McMahon is located in both parts of western and south western suburbs of Sydney, and covers Erskine Park, Minchinbury, Guildford West, Eastern Creek, Fairfield, Fairfield West, Kemps Creek, Merrylands, South Wentworthville etc – (you can find out more on the suburbs on the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) website);
The seat of McMahon is currently held by Labor MP Chris Bowen, who has served as the opposition leader ( 2013), and under both Gillard and Rudd Governments as minister;
The seat has an interesting demographic with (5%) of the entire electorate’s population having some sort of Chinese background and (6.9%) coming from an Iraqi background. Other significant Asian background populations include Vietnamese (3.6%), Filipino (2.1%) and Indian (2%);

WHY IS VIVEK PUTTING HIS HAND UP AND RUNNING AS A CANDIDATE?

Vivek wants to build on getting more investment for health in NSW;
He wants to fight to improve local roads and transport and ensure the community has access to world class hospitals and medical research;
